About this work

The image shows an old double-leaf door, marked by deep wear and a "grunge" aesthetic. The structure, once painted in a faded verdigris green, is now a patchwork of textures: the paint is peeling to reveal raw wood and traces of corrosion. The central element is the striking contrast between the textures: - On the left, a window protected by a tight, dark grille, completely obscuring the interior. - On the right, a glass panel whose panes appear opaque or covered by interior wooden panels. - On the ground, the massive stone threshold is bathed in harsh, white light, violently contrasting with the almost total darkness within the doorframe. The whole scene is framed by raw stone walls and topped with a degraded cornice, giving the impression of a forgotten place, frozen in a transition between light and shadow.
