About this work
I worked the texture to create a rugged, almost cartographic surface. The marks, scratches, and overlaps tell the multiple layers of an experience in the making. Nothing is smooth on this path, and that’s precisely what makes it authentic. The circular forms that emerge here and there evoke milestones, stages, perhaps encounters that will shape the journey. What particularly interested me was not showing a linear and clear path. On the contrary, I wanted to convey that sense of navigating through fog, where you move forward without always seeing where your next step will land. The geometric elements—those vertical lines that structure the composition—suggest a framework, a direction, even if it remains blurred. For this student at the start of their journey, I thought of those moments when you don’t yet know what you’ll become, but where everything remains possible. The colors blend, overlap, refuse to solidify, much like an identity in formation.
