Chiaroscuro Floral

This work features a flower (probably an amaryllis) at the end of its bloom, captured in striking chiaroscuro. The vertical stem, a dull green, supports petals whose deep red seems to burn away into darkness. The composition is distinguished by a stark contrast: On the left, a textured background evoking an ancient parchment or a worn photographic plate, etched by time. On the right, an absolute ink black that devours the plant’s outlines. The whole is framed by an irregular border reminiscent of the wet collodion process or artisanal silver prints.
